MY STORY
A lifetime of carp fishing, travelling and pushing the boundaries — on the water and beyond.
Never just
a hobby.
For decades I have travelled, fished and collected stories from waters across Europe and far beyond.
In my fishing I have always tried to push the boundaries, both literally and figuratively. Besides fishing for carp in the Netherlands, I kept looking for new challenges abroad. France, Italy and Spain became part of the journey, followed by less familiar waters and adventures much further from home.
Always looking
further.
The familiar carp waters were never the whole story. The search for new experiences took me across Europe and beyond — from France, Italy and Spain to Poland, Bosnia and South Africa.
Some waters became favourites and some trips became stories that stayed with me for years: Raduta, Rainbow, the River Lot, the River Po and Morocco. Different countries, different challenges, but always the same reason for being there — to see what might happen next.
“I always try to broaden my horizon in my fishing.”
The catches
you remember.
Personal bests are only numbers, but some captures mark a moment in a fishing life. Among them are a 68 lb common and a 60 lb mirror from Raduta Lake.
The fish were important, but so were the people, the places and everything that happened around them. Long sessions, old friends, new countries and the stories that inevitably followed became just as much a part of the adventure.
Some places steal your heart.
When the first stories and photographs from Morocco appeared in the magazines, the breathtaking landscape and beautiful carp were impossible to ignore. I simply had to go.
Bin-el-Ouidane delivered everything an adventure should: rough country, clear water, difficult fishing, a first Moroccan carp and plenty of memories away from the rods too.
When the journey home finally began, one thought remained: Morocco, I'll be back.
Years in print.
The journeys did not stay on the bank. Over the years the fishing, catches and adventures also found their way into the carp-fishing press — preserving another part of the story.
Old magazine pages, reports and photographs now form part of an archive that reaches back through decades of carp fishing.
Welcome to CarpCasa.
Today the adventure continues from CarpCasa in Spain. The scenery has changed over the years, but the search for the next catch, the next story and the next adventure hasn't.
